Copeland Cavaliers

Our love for Cavaliers has been long, but our breeding journey began in 2010 when we were blessed with a little tricolor girl named Echo. Echo was born with a wide variety of genetic issues, and working with specialists all across the country, we got her on a treatment course for her syringomyelia, heart murmur, and patella luxation. No dog should ever have to live this way, but she has taught us so much about this breed, and this is why we advocate for strict breeding protocol for this amazing breed. Our Cavaliers are performance Cavaliers who live to have a job, but also have the temperament to relax on the couch with you and the family. Our Cavaliers have many different jobs, from agility, therapy dog work, obedience, tracking work, scent work, dove flushing and retrieval, and of course many enjoy the job of snuggling.

Our Cavaliers all live with us inside our homes, with Erica and Daryl Copeland or Elizabeth Copeland and her husband. We keep a close connection with all our puppy families, and we like to host Cavalier Reunions! All puppies are born inside our home in a hand crafted whelping box, and begin potty training, independent sleeping, grooming etiquette, and being introduced to a wide variety of smells, sounds, and unique objects.

Our Cavaliers are screened for the following after the age of 2 years:

• OFA testing for heart, eyes, hips and patella (eyes, heart and patella updated yearly)

• Receiving their CHIC # from the OFA

• DNA testing for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and Episodic Falling Syndrome (EFS), and Dry Eye, Curly Coat Syndrome, Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD) as well as breeding for lower COI% through Embark 

• MRI testing to rule out any Syringomyelia (SM) and any advanced form of Chiari Malformation (CM)

We are a small breeder and may have a litter of puppies on occasion, but we can certainly help you on your journey to find a reputable Cavalier breeder who does all the necessary health testing on all sires and dams before breeding if you have a closer time schedule.
